Although Boxers are a very popular family dog, there are times when circumstances dictate that owners need to find a new home for their pet, and this is where Boxer Rescue can help. There are many reasons why a dog is given up for adoption – owners moving interstate or overseas for work reasons, or relationship break ups are just two examples. Sometimes we rescue Boxers from the various Pounds around Perth, or we may get a phone call concerning a Boxer running loose with no identification.
We always put the interests of the dog first, and over the past few years have been very successful in finding some wonderful new homes for those in need. When we know the dog’s background, as in the cases of dogs being given up by a family, it is fairly easy to try to find a similar new home and Boxers do settle quite quickly provided there is that love and attention that they thrive on.
The ages of the dogs vary considerably, and I urge anyone who is interested in a rescue to think about the dog and not themselves! Yes it’s hard to think of taking on a dog and only having it for two or three years – but oh what a lovely last few years for the dog – to be loved and indulged by a Boxer lover!
We usually keep a waiting list of prospective new owners, and all those on the list know the breed and have owned a Boxer or two before. This makes the process of adoption easier on all involved. As previously mentioned, we try to match the dog with the new home, again, to make it easier for all concerned.
If you believe that you could offer a great and loving home to one of our rescues, please phone Julie on the above number.
